Investment Thesis

The 3-10 year stretch is the workhorse of bond allocations — enough duration to rally hard when the Fed cuts, not enough to be destroyed if inflation lingers. SPTI's slightly negative trailing year reflects the September bond selloff; the ~4% yield now on offer is the compensation. At three basis points it undercuts the equivalent iShares funds while covering a broader maturity band than IEI.

Who It's For

Core bond investors who want their Treasury sleeve in the curve's sensible middle, cheaply. The single-fund answer between SPTS and SPTL in SPDR's Treasury ladder.
