Investment Thesis

SGOV does exactly what BIL does — hold the shortest, safest paper the US government issues — but charges 5 basis points less, which in a cash product is the entire competition. Launched into the zero-rate world of 2020, it exploded once the Fed began hiking and yield returned to cash. Its price mechanically saws between distribution dates and resets each month; the yield is the whole story.

Who It's For

The default cash-parking vehicle for cost-aware investors. Identical use cases to BIL — emergency funds at the broker, dry powder between trades, the risk-free sleeve of a portfolio — at a lower carrying cost.
