Investment Thesis
IUSB fixes the Agg's blind spot: the standard index excludes high yield entirely, leaving out a fifth of the real bond market. By tracking the broader Universal index, IUSB adds a controlled ~5% junk sleeve that has historically nudged returns up with minimal extra drawdown — which is why it has quietly become BlackRock's $44B default bond recommendation. One ticket, whole taxable bond market, monthly income near 4.7%.
Who It's For
Set-and-forget investors who want their single bond fund to own everything — including the high-yield slice the Agg pretends doesn't exist. The upgrade pick over AGG/SCHZ for a total-market purist.
