Overview
Fidelity's actively managed core bond fund — Treasuries, mortgage-backed securities, investment-grade credit and an opportunistic high-yield sleeve, run against the Bloomberg Universal index.

Investment Thesis
FBND is the case for paying 0.36% in bonds: unlike stock indexes, bond indexes weight by who borrows most, and an active manager can avoid the worst of that while adding high yield and EM selectively. Fidelity's team has outpaced the aggregate index since inception, and at a 4.8% yield the fund finally offers genuine income after a decade of bond famine.
Who It's For
Investors wanting one professionally managed bond allocation instead of assembling Treasury, corporate and mortgage funds themselves. Suits the fixed-income side of a classic 60/40 with monthly income.
