Investment Thesis

EMB is the benchmark for hard-currency emerging-market debt: because every bond is dollar-denominated, investors take sovereign credit risk — will Mexico or Indonesia pay? — without betting on their currencies. The 5%+ yield is the compensation, sitting between US investment-grade and high-yield. It behaves like a hybrid: bond-like in calm markets, equity-adjacent in EM crises, which is exactly when its diversification claim gets tested.

Who It's For

Income investors comfortable adding measured sovereign credit risk for yield, as a satellite within a diversified bond allocation — not a core holding.
