Investment Thesis
EDV is the sharpest rates instrument Vanguard sells: zero-coupon STRIPS have no cash flows to cushion them, so a one-point yield move swings the fund roughly 24% — this year's bond selloff cost it 10%, and a genuine recession-driven rate collapse would pay 30-50%. Nobody holds EDV by accident; it's the maximum-conviction expression of a falling-rates view.
Who It's For
Rate-cut maximalists and long-liability hedgers who understand they're buying a ~24-year duration lever. TLT is the moderate version; this is the full-strength one.
