Investment Thesis

IWB is the institutional benchmark for US large-cap equity. Its 1,000-stock universe captures about 93% of US market value versus roughly 80% for the S&P 500, and inclusion is purely rules-based — no index committee, no profitability requirement. Returns track the S&P 500 closely, but IWB is the purer expression of "the US large-cap market" as institutions define it.

Who It's For

Investors who want committee-free, rules-based large-cap exposure and portfolio managers benchmarked to Russell indices. At 0.15% it costs more than VV or SPLG for near-identical performance, so cost-sensitive holders should compare before defaulting to the benchmark name.
