Investment Thesis
IVV is BlackRock's flagship S&P 500 fund and the preferred vehicle for institutional S&P 500 exposure. Its open-end fund structure provides a slight tax efficiency advantage over SPY's Unit Investment Trust structure, making it better suited for long-term buy-and-hold investors. At 0.03% expense ratio, IVV delivers S&P 500 performance with virtually zero fee drag over a lifetime of investing.
Who It's For
Long-term investors and institutions seeking the most cost-efficient and tax-efficient S&P 500 exposure. IVV is the preferred choice over SPY for buy-and-hold investors due to its open-end structure. Suitable for taxable accounts, IRAs, and 401k plans. An excellent single-fund core holding for investors at any stage of their investment journey.
