Overview

Value half of the S&P 500, splitting the index by book-to-price, earnings-to-price and sales-to-price. A narrower, more rules-bound value definition than the broader CRSP or Russell approaches.

Investment Thesis

IVE carves the S&P 500 into its value half using three explicit valuation ratios, producing a cleaner and more transparent methodology than funds relying on a single metric. Because it draws only from S&P 500 constituents, every holding has already passed the index committee's profitability and liquidity screens — so IVE is a quality-filtered value fund by construction. That screening is the main structural difference from Russell-based alternatives, which reach further down the quality spectrum.

Who It's For

Investors who want S&P 500 value exposure specifically, rather than a broader value universe, and who value the implicit quality screen that S&P 500 membership provides. IVE suits those constructing a style barbell alongside IVW, or anyone deliberately underweighting the mega-cap growth concentration of the headline index.
