Investment Thesis
Commodities are the one major asset class that thrives when inflation runs hot and supply is tight — and with crude in the $90s and metals bid, GSG's energy-heavy GSCI basket delivered a +53% year that stock-bond portfolios couldn't touch. It is the classic late-cycle diversifier: returns arrive precisely when equities and bonds struggle with the same inflation that powers it. Futures roll costs and a K-1 tax form are the price of admission.
Who It's For
Investors hedging inflation and geopolitical supply shocks with a broad basket rather than a single commodity bet. A tactical satellite — the index's energy weighting means it lives and dies with oil.
